Shirshasana

Sanskrit word “Shirsha” means head and “aasana” means pose. This posture known as headstand posture. Sirsha-asana is an extremely powerful for physical and mental benefits. For its overall effect on the whole body, it is called the "king of asana".

Procedure -
  1. Sit on Vajrasana position and interlock the fingers of both hands and and place them on the extra padding on the yoga mat. Slowly place your head in middle of  two palms.
  2. Lift your both legs upwards and keep it straight while practicing this asana You can take help.
  3. In this position breathe normally for 15 to 20 seconds or more if you can.
  4. Now slowly  come to starting position by lower down your legs one by one.
  5. Repeat this for 3-4 cycles.
You can practice it for 1 minute to a maximum of 5 minutes in the beginning. After good practice you can increase duration. It really all depends on your level. In the beginning try it for 1 minute. If you feel comfortable then increase time.

Precaution -
  1. Those suffering from cough and cold, constipation, heart disease, head injuries or neck problem, high blood pressure or low blood pressure should avoid practicing this asana.
  2. Women should not practice during periods.
